NT Unattended Installation Solution
Designed and implemented a system to install windows NT on a transmitter control system with no user interaction required. Solution involved DOS batch file scripting, NT silent install scripting, silent installation of hardware drivers, automated setup of NT login accounts,and silent modification of Windows NT registry.

 

Installshield Transmitter Control Software Installation Program
Wrote an install program of transmitter control software. I implemented the project in Installshield. The project involved creation of custom dialogs, custom scripting and a large number of conditionally installed file groups.

 

DCX Transmitter Remote Control Software
Designed and Implemented software that allows a user to control and monitor a television transmitter over the web in real time. Project was implemented as a java applet. A custom protocol was designed and implemented to communicate to a terminal server that relayed communication to the transmitter components.

 

Solid State Remote Control Software
Designed and implemented software to monitor and control a Solid State Transmitter. The project was similar to the DCX Control and Monitoring solution. It was implemented as a Java Program and communicated to the transmitter directly through a proprietary based protocol. This GUI displays over a 1000 pieces of status and over a dozen commands.

 

Citect Control Software
Troubleshot and debugged a transmitter control software solution implemented in the Citect environment. I designed a test strategy that involved collaborating with field engineers and customers on discovery of outstanding bugs, classification and categorizing of bugs, and development of solutions to fix the bugs.

 

Field Engineering
Traveled around the country providing onsite upgrades, system troubleshooting, and field engineer training. The trips involved working on a tight schedule, customer interaction, and on-site troubleshooting and debugging. At the conclusion of the trips I documented the procedures I performed on the system for a training manual.

 

Customer Training
Taught numerous classes to broadcast engineers and station owners on transmitter control system architecture, TCP/IP networking, and system administration.

 

Control System Development
Worked on developing a new embedded transmitter control system. The architecture consisted of PIC, FPGA, and PPC circuits interfacing to hundreds of sensor I/O. The system architecture is modular communicating over a CAN bus.

 
Developed a web site for the town of Farmington to provide information to their residents and showcase the town's rich history and economic diversity. The site has evolved from a simple static site to one that includes a flash intro, user managed news updates, calendar systems for tracking town events, site statistics tracking, password management system, content management system, town committee minutes and agendas management.

 

Farmington Police Department Policies and Procedures Management Utility
Developed a utility that allowed a user to enter in policies and procedures of the police department a rich text format. Once the policies and procedures are entered a user can navigate the dynamically generated navigational and content pages, search by keyword existing policies and export the dynamic site to a static version of the site that can be burned onto CD for use by police officers in the field.

 
Developed a utility to manage and control web page content without needing to know any HTML or web design. Features included a WYSIWYG editor with an interface similar to Microsoft word, image upload and inclusion support, file attachment support, preview of site pages, and dynamic generation of site navigation pages and dynamic generation of additional site pages.

 

Developed a utility to display and manage land assessment records. The solution involved writing a script to dynamically extract over 20 tables of a relational VAX database and import it into them into a MySQL database. Next a front end was written to search for land records on a variety of different fields and display the record in a dynamically generated pdf document.

 
Performed various work on www.fingerlakeswinarytours.com web site to improve sales presentation and a sales inquiry inform that emails the administrator with new sale opportunities.

 

Designed and Implemented portal site for a RC Training and Consulting. Site involves a utility that allows their clients to log in and interactively make support requests. The server sends the service request in a text page to the assigned administrator. The site also features a needs assessment survey system that allows people to assess their computer skills and report the results back to the user

 

Thales Broadcast & Multimedia Intranet
Designed and implemented a company intranet for the employees of Thales Broadcast and Multimedia. The site featured a searchable contact directory, event calendar, and company news.

 

Designed and implemented an educational web site exploring the issues, cultures, and organizations that define our global community. The site received an honorable mention in the Thinkquest educational web site design contest. The site featured a chat room and message board http://library.thinkquest.org/18401/.

 

Class Scheduling Management Software
Implemented a class scheduling software with a team of 5 other people. The project focused on the all aspects of the software lifecycle including a detailed specification, use case analysis, design document, UML Class diagrams, test plan, and maintenance strategy. I was chosen as team leader for the group and was responsible for managing the project in addition assisting with coding and design.

 

Heartbeat Monitoring and Analysis Solution
Designed and implemented a heart beat monitoring system. A photo diode served as the sensor and was connected to a circuit that conditioned the signal to the necessary Voltage range to be read into a 68000 microcontroller. The microcontroller would sample the heart beat and calculate the heart rate.

 

VLSI Design Project
Designed a 8x8 Signed or Unsigned Multiplication circuit with BIST. The circuit was first designed at the transistor level and tested for functionality and speed. The circuit was then laid out using a 1 micron feature size in mentor graphics IC tool.

 

For my senior design project I implemented a Remote Aquarium Monitor and Control System is ideally suited for users who wish to monitor and control their aquarium while away from home. Because this system may be controlled via the Internet, the user can easily monitor and control their aquarium from anywhere in the world. Features include live streaming image of tank, light control(manual or automatic), Pump control (manual), Feeder control (manual or automatic), and automatic heating (with temperature trending). The project was featured in the RNews news television station and the Democrat & Chronicle Newspaper.

 

Tobacco
At the age of 15 I worked over the summer on a farm picking Tobacco for OJ Thrall Tobacco Company. The experience helped motivate me to pursue a higher education.

Just For the Record
Worked as a Disk Jockey for primarily weddings but also anniversary and school dances. Initially I was an assistant DJ but was later the head DJ responsible for my own assistant. This experience taught me allot about responsibility and speaking to large groups.

 

Windsor Board of Education
Worked as an assistant to the head of physical plant for the windsor board of education. I was responsible for traveling between schools performing odd tasks. When my computer skills were discovered I was promoted and put in charge of installing computer systems throughout the school system.
