Red Sox vs. Yankees

Ask anyone the greatest rivalry in baseball and Reds Sox vs. the Yankees will invariably be said more then any other response. As we stand before a grueling five game series that will significantly factor into who wins the AL East baseball fans watch eyes glued to the TV set.

Anyone who knows me well knows I'm a big Red Sox fan. I say it is because of where I grew up, but my state's support of the boys from bean town is by no means absolute. This NY Times article describes an area of New England where the rivalry runs strong, where brothers and cousins living towns apart are on different sides of the war. It describes Connecticut. It was in Windsor, CT a town equidistant from both cities that I forged my strong support of the sox. Except for the rare Mets fan there were no neutral stances on who you routed for. It is my belief that these border keepers of Red Sox nation, those that have to deal with annoying loud obnoxious Yankee fans after a loss, that form the heart of the team's large fan base.

Sox take 4 out of 5 in this upcoming series.....you heard it here first!

P.S. Red Sox nation is alive and well in the opposite corner of the country. In Hermosa Beach, CA where I live there are two Red Sox Bars (Complete with large signs announcing it). No Yankee bars......

Keeping Hip to New Tunes

Here's the situation. I am an Ipod Addict. I have a huge music collection I love listening to. It's big and diverse enough so that I don't really get tired of the songs in my collection. The problem is I have trouble finding out about new bands and different artists outside of what I already know. Occasionally a friend will turn my onto something new but not nearly as much as when I was young and everyone was listening to new stuff. The challenge is to keep up on new and different stuff out there. The solution........Pandora by the Music Genome Project. Its is simple is entering in a favorite band or song and then they come up with similar music. I tested it out with some pretty obscure unusual bands I like and was really impressed with the results that were additionally returned. Definitely going to add Pandora to the sites I go to regularly.
