Cross Country Road Trip Status Report
Flew to Cleveland Monday, met up with Bob who flew in from NYC. Hung out at Ironwood with some friends and convinced Suzy the Bartender whom I didn't know to come do the Chicago Leg of the Journey with us. Only problem was I left her number at the bar.
Met up with Ian In Chicago got to see the Cubbies beat Florida. Wrigley field is a very cool park, anyone driving through that area should definitely go if they're playing. Afterwards we headed out to a bar with Batting Cages! You heard me right, drunk guys with bats and fastballs being hurled at them at 70 MPH. Why don't all bars do this?
Next the drive from Chicago to Denver, 16 hours! Wasn't as bad as I would have thought.. Highlights include stopping in Des Moines, Iowa at a towney bar for lunch. The bar featured some old guy drinking blackberry brandy going in and out of consciousness. A mom with an infant in one of the booths and a two year old running around and the owner Steve who gave us the 411 on the area. A perfect place to stop for lunch.
Lincoln Nebraska was surprisingly a big and nice looking city. The people were all very friendly. After stopping for dinner we got lost and came across a clay pigeon shooting range where there were over 100 cars parked, beer drinking in the parking lot, and lots of guns and trucks. So of course we pulled in with the Audi and out of state plates to some weird stares. Unfortunately they didn't rent out guns so we were unable to take our shot at the range. We later learned that we could have gone to a local Wall mart and picked up a shot gun with no waiting period. Probably not a good idea to have a shotgun on a road trip.
Finally in Denver now resting up after the last 16 hours stretch. Stay Tuned for more updates.
